Public meeting: Communities fighting road schemes.
Past, Present, Future: Winchester, Newbury, Salisbury
On Saturday October 12th 2.00 p.m. at Winchester College[1] speakers from communities fighting road schemes past, present and future will address a public meeting. The speakers are from: Winchester (M3 motor way) - Alan Weeks from Friends of Twyford Down; Newbury(A34 bypass)- Jill Eisleley of The Third Battle of Newbury; Salisbury(A30 Salisbury bypass) - Colin Hall of Salisbury Friends of the Earth. Meeting is Chaired by John Stewart of Alarm UK - the national anti-roads campaign body.
The Public meeting forms part of a weekend of events in Winchester to celebrate the common history of people facing adversity. For communities now under threat, like Salisbury, the weekend offers a chance to learn from past experience. All events are at Winchester College unless otherwise stated.

10.30 a.m. onwards Preparation of Exhibition by Winchester residents.
Lantern making.
Saturday Oct. 12th
10.00 a.m. - 7.00 p.m. Exhibition.
2.00 p.m. - 4.00 p.m. Public meeting; refreshments and raffle available.
7.00 p.m. - late Gathering & Lantern procession from Winchester College
to St Catherine's Hill, Twyford Down
Sunday Oct. 13th
3.00 p.m. - 5.00 p.m. Picnic on Winchester Cathedral grounds, bring instruments, songs,etc
5.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. Procession into Cathedral for address by Cannon Keith Walker.
