Prominent Local Anti-Bypass Campaigner Vindicated
Today, at Newbury
Magistrate Court, Jill Eisele was cleared of a charge of using threatening
abusive words or behavior - a charge which she has always denied. Jill
was arrested on 27th March this year on the bypass route in the Kennet
Valley.
The case had been
adjourned twice previously; today a Material Witness ( a Security Guard)
failed to appear, and the prosecution was unable to present a tenable case.
3 police officers appeared as witnesses for the prosecution, but the magistrates
accepted that the prosecution had no case Costs were then awarded to the
defendant from Central Funds.
