Bypass route walk and fence decoration

On Bank Holiday Monday, August 26th, local residents and their families will be walking the northern part of the Newbury Bypass route[1]. Afterwards, they'll enjoy an on-route picnic. Ribbons, bunting and personnel messages will be then be tired on to the razor-wire-topped fencing which surrounds the compounds on route of the Newbury Bypass.

A spokesperson for the Third Battle of Newbury said,

"Oak seedlings some 12 inches high are growing on the northern part of the route. They are a fitting reminder that its not too late to stop this road and provide transport for the people of Newbury rather than more roads for more traffic"

[1] Meet at 12.00 pm on Monday 26th August at the Gotan camp, located where the cleared bypass route intersects with the B4494 Wantage road, about 2 miles north of Newbury.
